About the workshop

The ATS-SOM Workshop, held in collaboration with the Victorian Tunnelling Centre, will focus specifically on tunnel systems. This engaging two-day event will feature presentations, site visits, and ample networking opportunities.

Keynote presentations will be given by Ayman Eltouny and Surbhi Maheshwari from MTM, discussing the MURL Fire Protection Upgrade Project; and Mr Michael Kost and Dr Yeasmin Khandakar from Transurban, who will explore the use of Artificial Intelligence in managing operating road tunnel assets.

Workshop participants will gain exclusive behind-the-scenes access to prominent Victorian underground spaces, including the West Gate Tunnel Project and Melbourne Central Station.

Participants will have the chance to engage with the latest innovations, pose questions, and gain hands-on experience with some of the featured products on display and explore the interactive VTC facilities.

Participation includes lunches and dinner on Thursday 3^rd October.

Due to the limited number of attendees allowed at the VTC and tunnel sites; the anticipated popularity of this event; and our desire to allocate places fairly among companies, we are asking potential participants to register their expression of interest to attend the workshop. Submitting your interest does not guarantee a place at the workshop or the site visits.

Once you have registered, you will receive a Microsoft Teams calendar invite. This invitation is provisional and should be considered pending until the registration process is complete. Successful applicants will receive a separate confirmation email after the review has taken place.

About ATS-SOM

The ATS Tunnel Systems, Operation and Maintenance group (ATS- SOM) is a dedicated national subgroup of the ATS, comprising representatives from various chapters who share an interest in tunnel systems, as well as the operation and upkeep of tunnels.

Since its inception in 2021, ATS-SOM now boasts a diverse committee of consultants, vendors, and constructors from the infrastructure, water, and resources sectors. The group has successfully organised numerous events and technical sessions.
