The ATS would like to extend a huge thanks to all attendees, presenters and sponsors of our hugely successful Careers in Tunnelling event on the 20 July!
Nearly 100 attendees joined in total, with almost 50 attending the live component in Sydney – a great turnout for the annual ATS Young Members (ATSym) national event.
The high calibre of panellists coupled with an enthusiastic and attentive audience resulted in a thought-provoking experience for all involved. Discussions covered everything from industry changes, the current skills shortage and enticing the next generation of tunnellers to join the profession, through to more personal experiences of how the panellists had navigated the various challenges and obstacles they had come up against.
One of the event organisers, Julius Lumsden from the ATSym Committee, was thrilled with how it went. “It was a fantastic opportunity for professionals of all levels to discover more about the exciting world of tunnelling, with the aim of attracting them to pursue a career in this critical industry,” he said.
“The highlight of the presentation was undoubtedly the diverse perspectives shared by the panel of young tunnelling professionals. It was great to hear about each of their career paths in the different sectors of the tunnelling industry, the challenges they have faced and some of their insights and lessons learned throughout their careers.”
Our wonderful speakers included Katerina Monemvasioti Kappos, Luke Foyster, Ry Neradovsky and Denis Tepavac CPEng RPEV RPEQ. We’d also like to once again give a special shout out to event sponsors: Jacobs, Mapei Australia and Delve Underground.
Thanks so much!
