Nick McKenzie

Nick is a highly skilled construction, engineering, and project management professional with 28 years of experience and knowledge in the design and construction of major infrastructure projects. He has broad experience in a wide variety of project management roles including project delivery, provision of technical support to asset owners and contractors, contract superintendence, head contract/subcontract management, contract valuation, procurement, tender preparation, and review.

Nick is a tunnel and civil construction professional with experience in tunnel construction methods including hard rock/NATM/soft ground, drill and blast excavation, TBM tunnel construction (including large & small diameters and a selection of different machine types, hyperbaric interventions), shaft sinking, construction of underground structures/secondary linings and tunnel construction support including ventilation, spoil management, contamination assessment and environmental management.

Currently, Nick is providing constructability advice on the Los Bronces copper mine in Chile for Anglo American and the Oven Mountain pumped hydro project in NSW.  Previously, he has managed the constructability advisory services for the client on the Torrens to Darlington Project in South Australia and the Great Western Highway Upgrade, a 10.6km twin TBM tunnel through the western Blue Mountains.

Nick will be presenting on Constructability on Wednesday 27 November at 4.05pm.

The ATS Short Course 2024 is a multi-day event, designed to provide an introduction to the world of tunnels, being held in Brisbane 27-29 November. Event content will closely align with the latest edition of the ATS Tunnel Design Guideline and is a must for tunnelling professionals.
